BEFORE DECIDING

You are entitled to a clear answer.

Questions for anyone considering a book, course or joining. These are general verification criteria, not a claim that every described problem exists in a specific case.

01What exactly am I being offered?

Ask about the differences between a book, lecture, course, subscription, membership and initiation. Similar names do not mean the same content or status.

02Who is responsible for the programme?

Request the organisation’s name, the responsible person and an explanation of their authority. Registration of an association and Masonic recognition are separate matters.

03What is the total cost?

Ask about the price, membership fees, additional degrees, events and other obligations. Request written terms before paying.

04Who confirms the promised status?

If international recognition is mentioned, ask which body recognises what. Check confirmation using an independently located official contact.

05Can I freely ask questions and withdraw?

Request withdrawal rules and ask questions without guilt. Pressure to decide immediately is sufficient reason to pause.

06What remains behind the presentation?

Set aside titles, photographs, regalia and the venue. Examine the programme, mentoring, relationships and accountability. Neither luxury nor modesty alone demonstrates quality.

IF YOU ARE ALREADY INVOLVED

Taking a break is a legitimate decision.

Keep your contracts, payment confirmations and promised terms. Compare them with what you received. Time or money already invested does not oblige you to accept a new offer.

Talk to someone you trust without publicly disclosing other people’s membership or private correspondence. One bad experience does not describe every organisation or an entire tradition.

AN EXAMPLE OF CALMLY SETTING A BOUNDARY

“Before deciding, I want a written explanation of the programme, total costs and what payment provides. I will decide after reading it.”
